October 2017

GPFO hosted two major events this year, both of them brand new and hopefully happening again next year.

First up was 'Clays in the Woods', a clay pigeon shoot exclusively for our Private Office Club members. Members descended to the Hownhall Shooting School, Cowdray Estate for a day of fun and laughter - although the competitive nature of some was not far away! Talented guns displayed their accurate shooting skills while others took up the sport for the very first time. Finishing the day with a sit down sumptuous lunch outdoors in the woods under a wonderful stretch tent. This was a really fun and unique event for GPFO.

Just a week after was our European conference, which was our biggest conference yet with 120 FO guests in attendence, four different panel sessions and 13 speakers. The day started with a fascinating talk from Sir Anthony Seldon, followed by a panel on the often overlooked subject of family health and why it should be an integral part of risk management. Our second panel of the day was our 'Coffee with the Intermediaries' session, with discussions on insurance and risk management advice, selecting the right advisors when setting up an FO and reputational management. After lunch, there was some great discussion on our real estate panel on diversifying your property portfolio, sustainable real estate and the UK's residential market followed by some fascinating presentations on the future of Europe and monetary policy in our 'Tea with the Economist' session. A special thanks to Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP and the Centre of Social Justice, who closed the event with a great talk on the importance of family in tackling social injustice. This was a landmark event for us so a big thank you to all our speakers and attendees.

We also squeezed in an evening of personal shopping for POC members at Fortnum and Mason's - a headstart for Christmas!

September 2017

A welcome return to our busy events schedule after the summer this month with our Autumn Investment Club. Stelio Stefanou, the founder of the Stefanou Foundation, gave a moving talk on his programme For Baby’s Sake, which focuses on breaking the cycle of domestic abuse through catalytic philanthropy to give children the best start in life.

In addition to our well-known investment clubs, GPFO are looking forward to our first European conference event on the 18th October. You can find out more information from Kerry on kc@gpfo.co.uk.

June 2017

June was a busy month for GPFO, with our annual Summer Investment Club taking place and two other events.

On the 15th was our Summer Investment Club, which started with a fascinating keynote address from Calum Morrison (Extraordinary Adventure Club) before the day's presentations.

'Big Opportunities in Small Caps in Japan

'Providing Capital Solutions To The Private Equity Sector'

'Finding Value In UK Real Estate Pre-Brexit'

'Creating a New Standard For Digital Gold'

We also hosted a bespoke breakfast to discuss a venture capital fund on investing in digital health and functional foods.

Lastly, we hosted our Summer BBQ as a send-off to our clients before summer. Hosted at the Sky Bar at the Grange Hotel St Paul's, guests enjoyed a lovely view of St Paul's Cathedral over drinks and food.

May 2017

We held this year's first Coffee with the Economist in May - which had a great range of discussion. Delegates enjoyed presentations on:

'Where to run in today's markets?' A discussion on the global economy and opportunities for investors in the current market environment.

'The Global Shift of Monetary Policy and the Political Environment'.

'A discussion on the impact of the French elections and issues in Europe.'

'What does the 'end of the QE era' mean for markets?'

April 2017

We had a very successful St George's Day Investment Club at the end of April, where Terry Smith, of Fundsmith, kicked off the day's presentations over a lovely breakfast.

March 2017

Our 2017 Gulf Week is now underway! The annual event kicked off in Dubai with a special game of Volleyball and saw the introduction of our very own cocktail, The GPFO Cooler. We were very happy to have been joined by Dubai Holding, Cohesion Investments Limited, SGS Development Capital, Meyer Avocats and EMI Capital for what is always a very exciting week.

On day two, we hosted a Round Table conference where there where fascinating presentations from Dubai Holding, Cohesion Investments Limited, SGS Development Capital, Meyer Avocats, DIFC and EMI Capital.  The morning focused on general investment opportunities for FOs, followed by a great afternoon session on opportunities speficially within the UAE. With a mixture of principals and family office executives, it made for a fascinating session and guests enjoyed a lovely dinner in the evening.

Our last full day in Dubai is always a special one, with GPFO guests enjoying a day of polo with British Polo Day.

February 2017

We had a very busy February here at GPFO. We hosted a great private lunch at the start of the month with an interesting presentation on the opportunities to make double digit returns in UK Property and migiating the risks involved.

Just a week later, we hosted another lunch, where we discussed options for HNW and Family Offices in direct property investments, public property company equities, open and close ended property funds and the benefits of a closed ended fund structure.

Towards the end of the month, we had a unique evening event at the Monaco Embassy during which the potential of Monaco as a location for setting up family offices was discussed. With the Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco, H.E Mrs Genta, opening the event with a fascinating talk to GPFO guests, it really was a unique and special evening.

January 2017

We held our first event of the year on the 24th, our New Year Investment Club where Peter Stormonth-Darling gave a wonderful keynote speech after an interesting day of presentations.
